  • 3/4 cup (180 ml) cane sugar, plus more for sprinkling
  • 11/2 teaspoon (28 ml) s baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) sea salt
  • 1 cup (240 ml) milk
  • 4 tablespoon (60 ml) s unsalted butter, melted, plus more for the baking dish
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla extract
  • Heaping 2 cup (480 ml) s blackberries
  • Vanilla ice cream, for serving


Instructions

  1. Turn on your oven to 350°F and coat an 8×8-inch or similar-sized baking dish with a layer of melted butter.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, cane sugar, baking powder, and sea salt thoroughly using a whisk. Then, incorporate the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract, stirring until the mixture is smooth.
  3. Transfer this mixture into the greased baking dish. Distribute the blackberries evenly on the surface, then sprinkle with additional cane sugar.
  4. Place in the oven and bake for 50 to 65 minutes, until the edges are a rich golden brown and the center is slightly puffed and set. Let it cool for a bit, then serve warm accompanied by vanilla ice cream.
