Description
A delightful twist on a classic meal, venison cube steak is quick to prepare and offers a rich flavor profile that elevates any dinner.
Ingredients
- 4-5 thin-cut cube steaks (round steak works well)
- Salt
- Pepper
- Paprika
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 tbsp oil (plus more if needed)
- 1 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp flour (divided)
- 1 cup of broth
Instructions
- Season the cube steaks with salt, pepper, and paprika on both sides.
- Press each steak into the flour, ensuring both sides are well-coated. Shake off any excess flour.
- Heat 4 tbsp of oil in a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Place each steak into the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes per side.
- Once cooked, remove the steaks and place them on a paper towel-lined plate while repeating for remaining steaks.
- If making gravy, melt butter in the same skillet after removing steaks. Stir in 1 tbsp of flour and scrape up any browned bits.
- Slowly add broth, whisking continuously to create a smooth gravy. Add remaining flour if a thicker consistency is desired.
Notes
For the best results, pound the steaks gently before seasoning to enhance tenderness. Consider marinating for more flavor.
