Description

Venison cube steak offers a hearty, flavorful option for those looking to explore different kinds of meat in their meals. Each bite of this tender meat, seasoned just right, brings comfort and satisfaction.

Ingredients

  • 2 venison cube steaks
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 tbsp butter or oil
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • Fresh herbs (like thyme or parsley) for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season the venison cube steaks with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  2. Dredge the steak in flour, shaking off any excess.
  3. In a skillet, heat butter or oil over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the steak and cook until browned on both sides; set aside.
  5. Add sliced onion and mushrooms to the skillet and cook until softened.
  6. Stir in Worcestershire sauce and beef broth, scraping the bottom of the skillet.
  7. Return the steak to the skillet, cover, and simmer until cooked through.
  8. If the sauce is too thin, mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry and stir in.
  9. Garnish with fresh herbs before serving.

Notes

Allow the venison to reach room temperature before seasoning. For best results, aim for medium-rare with an internal temperature of about 130°F.
