Description

A hearty and nourishing venison chili that brings together robust flavors for a comforting meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground venison
  • 4 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 cups beef bone broth
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the chopped bacon over medium heat in a large pot or slow cooker until crispy.
  2. Add the ground venison and cook until browned.
  3. Stir in the onion, garlic, bell pepper, and carrots. Cook until vegetables are soft.
  4. Add the diced tomatoes, kidney beans, beef bone broth, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  5. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for at least 30 minutes on the stovetop or for 2-3 hours in the slow cooker.

Notes

For best results, allow chili to simmer longer. Flavors improve if stored overnight in the refrigerator.
