Ingredients

  • 1 loaf frozen garlic bread
  • 8 ounce (227 g) s mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 3 medium tomatoes, diced
  • 15 ounce (425 g) s artichoke hearts, canned
  • 6 fresh basil leaves, finely chopped
  • 1/8 teaspoon (1 ml) salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon (1 ml) ground red pepper

Instructions

  1. Drain the artichoke hearts without rinsing them, then cut them into quarters.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the artichokes with basil leaves and all the seasonings, then set the mixture aside.
  3. Prepare the frozen garlic bread by placing it on a baking sheet and warming it in a preheated oven at around 375-400°F until it’s heated through but not yet browned, which should take approximately 10-12 minutes.
  4. Take the garlic bread out of the oven and distribute the artichoke, tomato, and basil mixture evenly over the surface.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese uniformly over the top.
  6. Place the bread back in the oven and continue baking until the cheese melts and turns slightly golden, which should take about 5-8 minutes.
  7. Once done, remove the bread from the oven, slice it into portions, and serve while hot.

Notes

  • For a stronger garlic flavor, sprinkle garlic powder over the artichoke and tomato mixture before adding the cheese.
  • Add a hint of spice by mixing in a pinch of cayenne pepper with the artichoke and basil mixture.
  • Try using different cheeses like provolone or parmesan for a unique taste twist.
