Description
A comforting layered taco casserole made with tortillas, seasoned beef, and cheese, perfect for gatherings or cozy nights in.
Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 ½ tbsp taco seasoning mix
- ½ cup water
- ½ cup salsa con queso
- 3 8-inch flour or corn tortillas
- 2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend or cheddar cheese
- Sour cream for serving
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- Heat some oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart as you stir.
- Sprinkle the taco seasoning mix over the beef and pour in the water. Stir to combine and simmer for 2–3 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in the salsa con queso until well mixed.
- Spray an 8-inch round baking tin with cooking spray.
- Layer the bottom of the tin with one tortilla.
- Spoon 1/3 of the beef mixture over the tortilla, then top with 1/3 of the shredded cheese.
- Repeat these layers two more times, finishing with cheese on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted.
- Allow the taco bake to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
Consider using a mix of flour and corn tortillas for added texture. Garnish with fresh cilantro or diced tomatoes for freshness.
