Description
A tender, flavorful beef brisket caramelized with sweet and savory ingredients, perfect for family gatherings.
Ingredients
- 4-5 pounds beef brisket
- 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Trim the excess fat from the brisket, leaving a thin layer for flavor.
- Rub the smoked paprika, cumin, black pepper, and salt evenly over the brisket.
- In a skillet, heat oil and sauté the onions until caramelized (15-20 minutes).
- Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Transfer the caramelized onions to a slow cooker or Dutch oven.
- Place the seasoned brisket over the onions.
- Mix the brown sugar, soy sauce, beef broth, and apple cider vinegar in a bowl. Pour the mixture over the brisket.
- Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or cover and bake in a preheated oven at 300°F (150°C) for 3-4 hours.
- Once cooking is complete, let the brisket rest for 20 minutes before shredding it and mixing it with the cooking liquid.
Notes
Allow the brisket to rest after cooking for juicy results. Sample the cooking liquid for depth and adjust if needed.
