Description

A delightful sandwich featuring fresh mozzarella, savory prosciutto, and aromatic basil pesto, all layered between crusty sourdough bread for a comforting meal.


Ingredients

  • 2 slices of good sourdough or crusty bread
  • ½ ball of fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • 1 handful of grated cheddar, mozzarella, or Gruyere
  • 2 tbsp fresh basil pesto
  • 3 slices of prosciutto
  • 4-5 basil leaves for topping
  • Butter for spreading


Instructions

  1. Heat a pan over low-medium heat.
  2. Take one slice of bread and spread butter on one side.
  3. Flip the slice over (butter side down) and top with grated cheese.
  4. Layer with prosciutto, fresh sliced mozzarella, basil leaves, and pesto.
  5. Sprinkle salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Top with the second slice of bread, buttering the top side as well.
  7. Place the sandwich in the pan and fry for 5 minutes on each side, achieving a crunchy crust and melty inside.

Notes

Experiment with different types of bread and feel free to adjust the ingredients based on personal preference. If the sandwich browns too quickly, reduce the heat.
