Description

Deliciously marinated eggs infused with rich soy sauce and garlic flavors, perfect as a snack or in meals.

Ingredients

  • 6 large eggs
  • ¾ cup soy sauce
  • 3 garlic cloves, grated
  • 1½ tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1½ tablespoons sugar
  • 2 cups water

Instructions

  1. Prepare an ice bath in a bowl with cold water and ice cubes.
  2. Boil enough water in a medium saucepan to cover the eggs.
  3. Carefully add the eggs to the boiling water and cook for 7 minutes for runny yolks or 7½ minutes for firmer yolks. Swirl the water for the first 1½ minutes to ensure even cooking.
  4. Transfer the eggs to the ice bath for 2 minutes to halt the cooking process.
  5. Peel the eggs under slow running water to help remove the shell without damage.
  6. In a separate saucepan, combine the soy sauce, grated garlic, rice vinegar, sugar, and water.
  7. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 3 minutes before allowing the mixture to cool to room temperature.
  8. Pour the cooled soy sauce mixture over the peeled eggs in a bowl and cover it.
  9. Allow the eggs to steep in the soy sauce mixture for 12–24 hours before serving.

Notes

Store the eggs submerged in the soy sauce mixture for 4-5 days to maintain flavor and texture. For a stronger garlic flavor, let it sit longer.
