Description
Sourdough discard crackers are a crunchy and satisfying snack made from leftover sourdough starter, easily customized with various seasonings.
Ingredients
- 200 grams sourdough discard (1 cup stirred and unfed starter)
- 2 Tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
- 1/4 tsp fine sea salt
- Seasonings to taste (e.g., flaky sea salt, everything bagel seasoning, sesame seeds)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Melt the butter in a large measuring cup or mixing bowl and allow it to cool until just lukewarm.
- Add the sourdough discard and salt to the cooled butter, then stir with a spatula until well combined.
- Pour the mixture onto your prepared parchment-lined baking sheet and spread it into a thin, even layer.
- Lightly sprinkle the surface with flaky salt and your chosen seasonings.
- Bake for 10 minutes, then remove and score the dough into bite-size squares with a pizza cutter.
- Return to the oven for an additional 15–20 minutes, or until golden and firm. Allow cooling on the baking sheet.
- Once cool, store the crackers in an airtight container or zip bag.
Notes
Experiment with different seasonings for unique flavor profiles. Store the crackers properly to maintain their crispness.
