Description

Delicious sourdough discard cheddar biscuits featuring a rich, tangy flavor with sharp cheddar and a hint of cayenne.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sourdough discard
  • 1 stick melted butter (1/2 cup)
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese (shredded)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and salt.
  3. Add the melted butter and cheddar cheese into the dry ingredients, then mix in the sourdough discard to form a large dough ball.
  4. Divide the dough into nine equal portions and drop them onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each.
  5. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until firm and slightly golden brown.
  6. Allow to cool for 3-5 minutes on the pan before transferring to a cooling rack.

Notes

For best results, use freshly shredded cheddar cheese. Consider adding herbs like chives or thyme for additional flavor.
