Description

A delightful combination of chewy sourdough and rich, gooey cheese, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sourdough starter
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 cup lukewarm water

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the sourdough starter, sugar, and lukewarm water. Stir until well combined.
  2. Add the flour and salt, mixing until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Fold in the shredded cheese, ensuring it is evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for 4-6 hours, or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf or twists. Place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Allow it to rest for another 30 minutes.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  10. Let it cool before slicing and serve warm.

Notes

Experiment with different cheeses and herbs for enhanced flavor. Ensure your starter is active for the best rise.
