Description

Juicy smash burgers topped with a creamy baconnaise sauce, perfect for backyard barbecues or cozy dinners.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Butter, for toasting buns
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 4 slices cooked bacon, chopped


Instructions

  1. Preheat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
  2. Mix mayonnaise, chopped bacon, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper to prepare the baconnaise sauce. Set aside.
  3. Divide the ground beef into four equal portions (approximately 4 ounces each) and gently form each portion into a loose ball without compacting it too much. Season each ball with salt and pepper.
  4. Place the beef balls on the skillet. Immediately smash them down with a spatula to form thin patties. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until the edges are crispy and browned.
  5. Flip the patties, add a slice of cheese to each, and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the cheese is melted.
  6. Spread butter on the insides of the hamburger buns and toast them in a separate skillet until golden brown.
  7. Assemble the burgers by spreading a generous amount of baconnaise sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Place a burger patty on top. Add any additional toppings you desire (lettuce, tomato, pickles, etc.) and top with the other half of the bun. Serve immediately.

Notes

Ensure your skillet is hot for the best sear. Experiment with toppings and customize your baconnaise for unique flavor.
