Description

A comforting slow cooker dish featuring tender cube steaks smothered in savory gravy, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

  • 8 cube steaks
  • Flour (for dredging)
  • Black pepper (to taste)
  • Garlic powder (to taste)
  • Onion powder (to taste)
  • Seasoning salt (to taste)
  • 4 tbsp bacon grease
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 6 tbsp brown gravy mix
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp black pepper
  • Salt (to taste)

Instructions

  1. In a rimmed container, combine flour, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper to create a dredging mixture.
  2. Season each cube steak generously with seasoning salt.
  3. Heat bacon grease in a large pan over medium heat.
  4. Fry each cube steak for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  5. Once browned, transfer the steaks to a slow cooker and pour any remaining grease and food bits from the pan into the cooker for flavor.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix hot water, beef broth, gravy mix, Worcestershire sauce, and seasonings. Pour this mixture over the cube steaks, ensuring they are barely covered.
  7. Cook on low for 5-6 hours or high for 2-3 hours until the meat is fork-tender.

Notes

Let the meat rest before slicing for better results. Adjust seasonings to your taste preferences.
