Description

Discover how to make perfectly crispy Roasted Sweet Potato Wedges with this easy recipe. Learn the secret to achieving that delicious caramelized flavor!

Ingredients

  • 3 medium sweet potatoes (600g)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (30ml)
  • 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder (3.75g)
  • 3/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (3.75g)
  • 3/4 teaspoon (4 ml) salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder (1.25g)
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) black pepper

Instructions

  1. Set your oven to 450°F and prepare a large baking tray by covering it with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Rinse and dry the sweet potatoes; peeling them is optional.
  3. Using a sharp knife, cut each potato lengthwise and then into quarters. Further slice these quarters into wedges about ½ inch thick, ensuring they are uniform in size for even cooking.
  4. Transfer the wedges to a medium bowl and drizzle them with vegetable oil, tossing to cover them thoroughly.
  5. In a separate small bowl, mix together the garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, onion powder, and black pepper. Scatter the spice blend over the sweet potato wedges and mix until they are evenly coated.
  6. Arrange the wedges on the lined baking tray in a single layer, ensuring they do not touch. If the tray is too crowded, use two trays.
  7. Bake the potatoes for 20 minutes, then take them out and flip them with a spatula. Place them back in the oven for another 5 to 10 minutes, or until they are lightly browned and tender.
  8. Switch the oven to broil and broil the sweet potatoes for 2 to 3 minutes until they become crispy. Keep a close eye on them to prevent burning.
  9. Take them out of the oven and, if desired, sprinkle with extra salt. Serve them while warm.

Notes

  • Consider adding cayenne pepper or chili powder to the spice blend for an extra kick.
  • Enhance the sweetness of sweet potatoes by drizzling with honey or maple syrup before baking.
  • Use olive oil instead of vegetable oil for a healthier and different flavor profile.
