Ingredients

  • 1 pound (454 g) ground beef (450 grams)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) mushrooms, finely chopped (75 grams)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) vegetable oil (15 milliliters)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) salt (2.5 grams)
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) black pepper (1.5 grams)
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) mayonnaise (15 grams)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) mustard (15 grams)
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Sliced red onions

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add chopped mushrooms to the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes until soft.
  5. Remove the skillet from heat and let the mushroom mixture cool slightly.
  6. In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, cooked mushrooms, salt, and black pepper.
  7. Mix the ingredients until well combined.
  8. Divide the turkey mixture into four equal portions.
  9. Shape each portion into a patty about 1/2 inch thick.
  10. Place the patties on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through.
  12. Place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty during the last 2 minutes of baking.
  13. While the patties are baking, mix mayonnaise and Dijon mustard in a small bowl.
  14. Spread the mayonnaise-mustard mixture on the cut sides of the hamburger buns.
  15. Toast the buns lightly in a skillet or toaster.
  16. Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on the bottom half of each bun.
  17. Top each patty with lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and sliced red onions.
  18. Place the top half of the bun on each burger.
  19. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

  • Consider using ground turkey instead of ground beef for a lighter burger option.
  • Experiment with gouda or provolone cheese for a unique flavor profile.
  • Add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the turkey mixture for a spicy kick.
