Ingredients
- 1 pound ground sausage (or plant-based alternative)
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 package (about 30 ounces) frozen hash browns, thawed
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground sausage and onion until the sausage is browned. Drain excess fat.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the sausage mixture with the thawed hash browns, half of the shredded cheese, salt, and black pepper.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading evenly.
- Top with the remaining cheese and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Allow to cool slightly before cutting into squares and serving.
