Description

Delightful Mini French Breakfast Puffs that are easy to make and perfect for any gathering, combining sweetness and spice for a charming breakfast treat.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/3 cup vegetable shortening
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350ºF and spray a 24-cavity mini muffin pan with flour-based baking spray.
  2. Whisk together 1/2 cup of granulated sugar and 1 tsp of cinnamon to create the cinnamon sugar mix; set aside.
  3. Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg in another bowl.
  4. Beat the vegetable shortening and 1/2 cup of granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Add the egg and mix well, scraping down the sides of the bowl.
  6. Mix in the milk alternating with the dry mixture until just combined.
  7. Distribute the batter into the mini muffin cavities.
  8. Bake for 13-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Roll the puffs in melted butter and coat with the cinnamon sugar mix before serving.

Notes

Serve warm, rolled in cinnamon sugar. Can be garnished with fresh fruit or a dusting of powdered sugar.
