Description

A delightful crostini featuring crispy bacon, creamy goat cheese, and a hint of sweetness, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

  • 2 packs thick-cut bacon
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 large baguette, sliced into 24 rounds
  • Olive oil (for brushing)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 oz goat cheese log
  • Maple syrup, honey, or hot honey (for drizzling)
  • Optional garnishes: chopped fresh thyme, chives, or candied pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.
  2. In a bowl, mix brown sugar, water, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and optional red pepper flakes. Dredge each bacon strip into this mixture, ensuring full coverage.
  3. Lay the bacon strips in a single layer on the wire rack. Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway, until the bacon appears crisp and caramelized.
  4. Let the bacon cool, then chop or break it into bite-size pieces.
  5. Brush the baguette slices with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Toast in the oven for 8-10 minutes, flipping once, until golden brown.
  6. Spread goat cheese on each toasted crostini, top with bacon pieces, and drizzle with maple syrup or hot honey.
  7. Finish with fresh herbs or a sprinkle of candied pecans for extra flair.

Notes

Ensure the bacon is thick-cut for the best texture and flavor. Allow the bacon to cool before chopping for easy handling.
