Description
A hearty low carb pizza casserole packed with ground beef, marinara, and layers of ooey-gooey cheese that brings all the comforting flavors of pizza to your dinner table.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup bell pepper, chopped
- 2 cups marinara sauce (low carb)
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef while stirring in the chopped onions and bell peppers. Cook until the beef is fully browned and the vegetables are tender.
- Drain excess fat from the skillet, then stir in the marinara sauce and seasonings, mixing well to combine.
- Grease a baking dish to prevent sticking. Start layering by adding half of the meat mixture on the bottom.
- Next, layer half of the mozzarella cheese and half of the pepperoni on top of the meat mixture.
- Repeat the layering process with the remaining meat mixture, mozzarella cheese, and pepperoni.
- Finish by sprinkling the grated Parmesan cheese over the top layer.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
For a spicy kick, add red pepper flakes between the layers. Customize toppings with olives or mushrooms as desired.
