Description

A hearty low carb pizza casserole packed with ground beef, marinara, and layers of ooey-gooey cheese that brings all the comforting flavors of pizza to your dinner table.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 cups marinara sauce (low carb)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese


Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef while stirring in the chopped onions and bell peppers. Cook until the beef is fully browned and the vegetables are tender.
  2. Drain excess fat from the skillet, then stir in the marinara sauce and seasonings, mixing well to combine.
  3. Grease a baking dish to prevent sticking. Start layering by adding half of the meat mixture on the bottom.
  4. Next, layer half of the mozzarella cheese and half of the pepperoni on top of the meat mixture.
  5. Repeat the layering process with the remaining meat mixture, mozzarella cheese, and pepperoni.
  6. Finish by sprinkling the grated Parmesan cheese over the top layer.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For a spicy kick, add red pepper flakes between the layers. Customize toppings with olives or mushrooms as desired.
