Ingredients

  • 1 pound (454 g) ground beef (450 grams)
  • 2 medium zucchinis, sliced (about 300 grams)
  • 1 medium onion, chopped (about 150 grams)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) olive oil (15 milliliters)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) salt (5 grams)
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) black pepper (2.5 grams)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) dried oregano (1 gram)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) dried basil (1 gram)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) diced tomatoes (240 milliliters)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) shredded mozzarella cheese (about 100 grams)


Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet.
  3. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add the ground beef to the skillet.
  5. Cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
  6. Season the beef with salt, black pepper, oregano, and basil.
  7. Stir in the sliced zucchinis, mixing well.
  8. Cook until the zucchinis are tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  9. Add the diced tomatoes to the skillet.
  10. Stir well and let the mixture simmer for 5 minutes.
  11. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  12. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish.
  13. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top.
  14. Bake in the preheated oven until the cheese is melted and bubbly, about 10 minutes.
  15. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
