Ingredients
- 2 small zucchini, cut into 1/2 inch (1.27 cm) fries
- 240 ml (1 cup) alternative cheese, freshly grated
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) onion powder
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) Italian seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 375 degrees for 8 minutes.
- As the air fryer gets ready, slice the zucchini into sticks that are approximately 3 inches in length and half an inch in width. Use a towel to blot the zucchini sticks, ensuring they are dry.
- In one shallow bowl, have a beaten egg ready, and in another, combine the grated cheese with the onion powder, Italian seasoning, and black pepper.
- Dip the zucchini sticks in the egg mixture, then coat them with the cheese and spice blend.
- Lay the zucchini fries in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. You’ll need to cook them in two rounds. Allow them to cook for 8 minutes or until they have a crisp, golden appearance.
Notes
- Note: Ensure the zucchini sticks are thoroughly dried before coating to help the cheese mixture adhere while cooking.
- Adjust the seasoning to taste by varying the amount of Italian seasoning and black pepper used.
- Enhance the flavor by sprinkling grated Parmesan cheese on the zucchini fries before air frying.
