Mini Caprese bites capture the essence of simplicity and flavor, combining cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil into vibrant appetizers perfect for gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 pint cherry tomatoes (approximately 20–25 tomatoes)
- 1 container (8 ounces) mini mozzarella balls (bocconcini or ciliegine)
- 20–25 fresh basil leaves
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
- Salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Balsamic glaze, for drizzling
- 20–25 toothpicks or mini skewers
Instructions
- Rinse the cherry tomatoes and basil leaves under cool water and pat them dry with a cloth or paper towels.
- Drain the mini mozzarella balls and gently blot them to remove excess moisture.
- Take a toothpick and slide on a cherry tomato, followed by a basil leaf (folded if large), and then a mozzarella ball. Gently press the ingredients together.
- Repeat this process until all ingredients are used up.
- Place the mini Caprese bites on a serving tray.
- Drizzle with extra-virgin olive oil and sprinkle with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
- Just before serving, finish with a drizzle of balsamic glaze.
Notes
Serve on a colorful platter or tiered stand for visual appeal. These bites are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two days.
