Ingredients

  • 1 pound (454 g) shrimp, peeled and deveined (450 grams)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) honey (60 milliliters)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) soy sauce (60 milliliters)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) minced garlic (15 grams)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) olive oil (15 milliliters)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) vegetable oil (15 milliliters)
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) ground black pepper (1.25 grams)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) jasmine rice, uncooked (185 grams)
  • 2 cups (480 ml) water (475 milliliters)
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3 ml) salt (2.5 grams)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) broccoli florets (150 grams)
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced (150 grams)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) sesame seeds (9 grams)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (15 grams)


Instructions

  1. Rinse 1 cup of jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a pot, combine the rice, 2 cups of water, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
  3. Bring the rice to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot.
  4. Cook the rice for 15 minutes, then remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, mix 1/4 cup honey, 1/4 cup soy sauce, and 1 tablespoon minced garlic.
  6. Add 1 pound of shrimp to the honey-garlic mixture, ensuring they are well-coated.
  7. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil and 1 tablespoon sesame oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  8. Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until pink and opaque.
  9. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  10. In the same skillet, add 1 cup of broccoli florets and 1 sliced red bell pepper.
  11. Stir-fry the vegetables for 4-5 minutes until tender-crisp.
  12. Season the vegetables with 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper.
  13. Return the shrimp to the skillet and toss with the vegetables to combine.
  14. Fluff the cooked rice with a fork and divide it into bowls.
  15. Top each bowl with the shrimp and vegetable mixture.
  16. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon sesame seeds and 2 sliced green onions over the bowls for garnish.
