Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup fresh or frozen cherries, pitted
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round pan.
- Cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk.
- Gently fold in the cherries.
- Pour the batter into the greased pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool for 10 minutes in the pan before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For added flavor, substitute almond extract for vanilla. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream for a delightful dessert.
