Ingredients
- 4 deer meat cube steaks
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 3 tablespoons olive oil or butter
- 1 cup beef or venison broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream (optional for creamy gravy)
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Coat the deer meat cube steaks with the mix of flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Heat the olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the steaks for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown, then remove from skillet.
- In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and minced garlic, sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent.
- Pour in the beef or venison broth, scraping the bottom of the skillet for flavor. If desired, stir in the heavy cream.
- Return the seared steaks to the skillet, cover, and simmer on low for 15-20 minutes.
- Remove from heat, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve warm with your choice of sides.
Notes
Check the internal temperature, aiming for at least 145°F for safe consumption. Pair with roasted vegetables or mashed potatoes.
