Ingredients
- 1 spaghetti squash (about 2 lbs / 900 g)
- 2 tbsp (30 ml) vegetable oil
- 1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) sea salt
- 1/4 tsp (1.25 ml) freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
- Set your oven to 400°F and let it heat up.
- Cut the spaghetti squash along its length and remove the seeds and fibrous strands. Pour vegetable oil over the interior of the squash, then season with sea salt and black pepper.
- Lay the squash halves face down on a baking tray, and pierce the skin with a fork. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes until the outer layer is slightly browned and the flesh is tender yet firm. Cooking time may differ based on the squash’s size and individual characteristics.
- Take the squash out of the oven and turn it so the cut side faces upwards. Once it’s cool enough to handle, use a fork to separate and lift the spaghetti-like strands from the squash.
Notes
- Pierce squash skin thoroughly before baking for even cooking.
- Adjust baking time based on squash size for desired texture.
- Enhance flavor by mixing in herbs or Parmesan with spaghetti-like strands.
