Description

A nostalgic Filipino dessert made from soft tofu, sweetened sago pearls, and a rich caramel syrup called arnibal.

Ingredients

  • 11 ounces (312 grams) all-natural extra soft tofu
  • 1 cup sago pearls, cooked and flavored with brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar for the arnibal
  • 1/4 cup water for melting the sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for flavor enhancement

Instructions

  1. Start by preparing the arnibal. In a pan over low heat, combine the brown sugar, water, and vanilla extract. Stir continuously until the mixture caramelizes into a rich syrup.
  2. Pour the soft tofu into a cup. You can either microwave it for about 5 minutes or steam it for 10 minutes until warmed through.
  3. Once the tofu is heated, drizzle 2-3 tablespoons of the caramelized brown sugar over it and add about 2 tablespoons of cooked sago.
  4. Your homemade Taho is now ready to serve! Enjoy it warm for the best experience.

Notes

Store unused components separately: refrigerate the tofu and sago in airtight containers. The arnibal can be kept in the fridge for about a week.
