Description

Learn how to make delicious homemade popcorn with olive oil that is healthier and tastier than store-bought options. Perfect for movie nights and snacking!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) popcorn kernels
  • 3 tablespoons (45 ml) vegetable oil
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Pour 3 tablespoons of olive oil into a large, heavy-bottomed pot.
  2. Place the pot over medium heat.
  3. Add 3 or 4 popcorn kernels to the pot.
  4. Cover the pot with a lid and wait for the test kernels to pop.
  5. Once the test kernels pop, remove them from the pot.
  6. Add 1/2 cup of popcorn kernels to the pot.
  7. Cover the pot again, leaving the lid slightly ajar for steam to escape.
  8. Shake the pot occasionally to prevent burning.
  9. Continue shaking until the popping slows to a few seconds between pops.
  10. Remove the pot from heat once popping stops almost completely.
  11. Transfer the popcorn to a large bowl.
  12. Season the popcorn with salt to taste.
  13. Toss the popcorn to distribute the salt evenly.
  14. Serve immediately for best taste.

Notes

  • Use a sturdy pot to prevent popcorn from burning.
  • Remember to shake the pot for even cooking.
  • Season with salt immediately after popping for best flavor.
