Description

Enjoy a homemade version of the classic McGriddle in under 30 minutes, featuring fluffy pancakes, savory sausage, and gooey cheese for a delightful breakfast experience.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground breakfast sausage (or 4 sausage patties)
  • Salt and pepper
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 4 tbsp. softened butter
  • 1 ¼ cups flour
  • â…” cup milk (for pancake batter)
  • 1 egg (for pancake batter)
  • 1 ½ tsp. baking powder
  • 2 tbsp. maple syrup
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 6 slices of crispy bacon
  • 4 slices American cheese

Instructions

  1. Form the ground sausage into four equal patties, seasoning with salt and pepper.
  2. Whisk together 6 eggs and 1 cup of whole milk in a medium bowl.
  3. Heat a grill pan over medium heat and cook the sausage patties for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  4. In a separate pan, coat with softened butter and pour in a quarter of the egg mixture. Cook over low heat until set, then fold into thirds. Repeat with remaining egg mixture.
  5. In another bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Add â…” cup of milk, 1 egg, melted butter, and maple syrup. Mix until smooth.
  6. Prepare a non-stick pan with butter and pour 2-3 tablespoons of pancake batter for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form, then flip to cook the other side.
  7. Cook bacon until crispy.
  8. Assemble the McGriddle by stacking a pancake, a slice of cheese, a sausage patty, an omelet, crispy bacon, and another pancake. Repeat until all ingredients are used.

Notes

Let the pancake batter rest for a few minutes for fluffier pancakes. Consider using different cheeses for added flavor.
