Description
Delicious, homemade French fries that evoke the pleasure of childhood memories with a perfect crispy texture.
Ingredients
- 4 large russet potatoes
- Cold water (for soaking)
- Vegetable oil for frying (canola, peanut, or sunflower)
- Sea salt (to taste)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika or smoked paprika
- 1 tbsp grated parmesan cheese
- Chopped fresh herbs (rosemary, parsley, thyme)
Instructions
- Peel and cut the potatoes into even-sized sticks about 1/4 inch thick.
- Soak the cut potato sticks in cold water for 30 minutes to an hour to remove excess starch.
- Drain and pat the potatoes dry using kitchen towels.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a large pot to 325°F (160°C). Fry the potatoes in batches for 3-5 minutes until they begin to soften.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Increase the oil temperature to 375°F (190°C) and fry the blanched potatoes in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Drain again on paper towels, then sprinkle with sea salt, garlic powder, paprika, and grated parmesan while hot.
- Toss with fresh herbs before serving.
Notes
For extra crispiness, consider double-dipping your fries in the oil. Serve immediately for the best experience.
