Ingredients

  • 12 ounces (340 g) (340 grams) macaroni
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) olive oil
  • 1 pound (454 g) (450 grams) beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups (480 ml) milk
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) (30 grams) all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups (480 ml) (225 grams) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup (240 ml) (115 grams) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) (15 grams) butter


Instructions

  1. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the beef sirloin to the skillet and cook until browned; remove from skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add onion, green bell pepper, and red bell pepper.
  5. Sauté the vegetables until they are tender.
  6. Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 1 minute.
  7. Return the beef to the skillet, mix with vegetables, and season with salt and black pepper.
  8. In a separate saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
  9. Stir in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to form a roux.
  10. Gradually whisk in milk, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens.
  11. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in cheddar and mozzarella cheese until melted.
  12. Combine cooked macaroni, beef mixture, and cheese sauce in a large pot or baking dish.
