Ingredients
- 12 ounces (340 g) (340 grams) macaroni
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) olive oil
- 1 pound (454 g) (450 grams) beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups (480 ml) milk
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) (30 grams) all-purpose flour
- 2 cups (480 ml) (225 grams) shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup (240 ml) (115 grams) shredded mozzarella cheese
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon (15 ml) (15 grams) butter
Instructions
- Cook the macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the beef sirloin to the skillet and cook until browned; remove from skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add onion, green bell pepper, and red bell pepper.
- Sauté the vegetables until they are tender.
- Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 1 minute.
- Return the beef to the skillet, mix with vegetables, and season with salt and black pepper.
- In a separate saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
- Stir in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to form a roux.
- Gradually whisk in milk, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in cheddar and mozzarella cheese until melted.
- Combine cooked macaroni, beef mixture, and cheese sauce in a large pot or baking dish.
- Mix well to ensure all ingredients are evenly combined.
- Adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper, if necessary.
- Serve immediately while hot.
