  • 2 medium zucchinis, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) olive oil (15 milliliters)
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) soy sauce (30 milliliters)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) hoisin sauce (15 milliliters)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) ginger, grated (5 grams)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) cornstarch (8 grams)

  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) sesame seeds (9 grams)
  • 2 green onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Remove the cooked beef from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the sliced yellow onion and red bell pepper.
  5. Stir-fry the vegetables until they begin to soften, about 3-4 minutes.
  6. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet and stir for 1 minute.
  7. Add the sliced zucchini to the skillet and continue to stir-fry for another 3 minutes.
  8. In a small bowl, mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 1/4 cup of water until smooth.
  9. Add the cooked beef back into the skillet with the vegetables.
  10. Pour the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch mixture over the beef and vegetables.
  11. Stir well to combine and cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  12. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  13. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds over the stir-fry.
  14. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, consider using lean ground beef or ground turkey instead of regular ground beef.
  • Add extra vegetables like broccoli, snap peas, or mushrooms to boost the nutritional value of the dish.
  • Adjust the soy sauce and hoisin sauce amounts to suit your taste preference for a more personalized flavor.
