Ingredients

  • 1 Pound (454 g) Ground Meat – Chicken, Beef, or Turkey
  • 1 Tablespoon (15 ml) Olive Oil
  • 1 Tablespoon (15 ml) Minced Garlic
  • 1/2 Sweet Onion – Chopped
  • Black Pepper – For seasoning your meat
  • 16 Ounces (454 g) Coleslaw Mix
  • 4 Ounces (113 g) Carrots – Shredded
  • 1 Tablespoon (15 ml) Rice Vinegar
  • 1 Tablespoon (15 ml) Sesame Oil
  • 2 Ounces (57 g) Soy Sauce – Low Sodium
  • 1 Teaspoon (5 ml) Ground Ginger
  • 2 Tablespoons (30 ml) Sweet & Sour Sauce – or Hoisin, Teriyaki, Oyster Sauce *Optional


Instructions

  1. Set your stove to medium heat and pour the Olive Oil into a large pan or skillet.
  2. Add the Ground Meat to the pan and cook it thoroughly, making sure to crumble it into small pieces as it cooks.
  3. While the meat is cooking, incorporate the Garlic, Onion, and Pepper.
  4. Once the meat is fully cooked, reduce the heat to low.
  5. Introduce the remaining ingredients to the pan.
  6. Stir everything together and allow it to simmer for 5-10 minutes, or until it reaches your desired level of tenderness.
  7. Optionally, garnish with Green Onion, Sesame Seeds, Hot Sauce, or Hard Boiled Eggs if desired.

Notes

  • For a healthier option, use lean ground turkey or chicken and low sodium soy sauce.
  • Customize the stir fry sauce with hoisin, teriyaki, or oyster sauce for different flavors.
