Description

Delicious hamburger steaks bathed in a creamy dill sauce, offering a comforting meal filled with nostalgia and warmth.

Ingredients

  • 1.3 pounds ground beef
  • 4 tablespoons breadcrumbs
  • 1 yellow onion (grated)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 yellow onion (diced)
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup low sodium chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons chopped dill (more for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, grate the onion.
  2. Add the ground beef, breadcrumbs, salt, black pepper, cream, and egg.
  3. Mix everything with your hands until just combined.
  4. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into patties.
  5. Set the patties aside.
  6. Heat olive oil and butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat.
  7. Add the hamburger steaks to the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until browned.
  8. Transfer the cooked steaks to a clean plate.
  9. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking until fragrant.
  10. Stir in salt, black pepper, and flour until incorporated.
  11. Pour in the chicken broth and simmer for 2 minutes.
  12. Add heavy cream and dill, bringing to a boil and simmer until the sauce thickens.
  13. Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet, simmering for an additional 5-6 minutes.
  14. Finish with chopped dill and a sprinkle of black pepper before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, incorporate spices like smoked paprika into the beef mixture. Allow steaks to rest after cooking for maximum juiciness.
