Description

Delicious hamburger steaks served in a creamy dill sauce that adds a comforting richness, perfect for family gatherings or weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1.3 pounds ground beef
  • 4 tablespoons breadcrumbs
  • 1 yellow onion (grated)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 yellow onion (diced)
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup low sodium chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons chopped dill (more for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, grate one yellow onion and combine it with ground beef, breadcrumbs, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon black pepper, 2 tablespoons heavy cream, and 1 egg. Mix until just combined.
  2. Divide the mixture into four portions and shape each into ¾ inch thick patties.
  3. Heat olive oil and unsalted butter in a skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown. Transfer to a plate.
  4. In the same skillet, add the diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until fragrant.
  5. Stir in 2 tablespoons flour, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon black pepper. Gradually add the chicken broth and simmer for two minutes.
  6. Add 1 cup heavy cream and 2 tablespoons chopped dill; bring to a boil.
  7. Return the patties to the skillet and cook for an additional 5-6 minutes until heated through. Serve with extra dill and freshly grated black pepper on top.

Notes

For added flavor, experiment with different herbs or spices in the beef mixture. Letting the patties rest after cooking allows for juicier servings.
