Description

A comforting dish featuring lean ground beef, mushrooms, and creamy sour cream served over egg noodles.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 8 oz cremini mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups low-sodium beef broth
  • 1 cup full-fat sour cream
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 8 oz egg noodles (or pasta of choice)
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the diced onions and minced garlic. Sauté until fragrant and translucent.
  3. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
  4. Drain excess fat if needed.
  5. Stir in the sliced mushrooms, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook until mushrooms are soft.
  6. Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir well to combine.
  7. Gradually pour in the beef broth while stirring until smooth and bubbling.
  8. Reduce heat to low and gently mix in sour cream until fully incorporated.
  9. Simmer for about five minutes until thickened.
  10. Toss cooked pasta into the sauce or serve on individual plates.
  11. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

For a healthier option, use lean ground beef which produces less grease. Feel free to switch up the pasta shape based on what you have.
