Description

Indulge in guilt-free Greek yogurt brownies that combine rich, fudgy texture with a hint of tanginess from Greek yogurt and applesauce.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt (preferably full-fat or 2%)
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar or coconut sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour for healthier option)
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (optional for extra richness)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together the Greek yogurt, applesauce, sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract in a medium-sized bowl until smooth and well combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. The batter will be thick.
  5. If using chocolate chips, fold them into the mixture for extra richness.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Cut into squares and enjoy!

Notes

For a healthier option, consider using whole wheat flour instead of all-purpose flour. Allowing the brownies to cool completely before cutting helps set the texture and flavor.
