Description

Warm and comforting fluffy cinnamon rolls perfect for breakfast or an afternoon treat, infused with sweetness and spice.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup warm water
  • 1 and â…› teaspoons dry active yeast
  • ¼ cup warm milk
  • 2 and ½ tablespoons granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 and ¼ to 2 and ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar (for filling)
  • ¼ cup light brown sugar (firmly packed)
  • 1 and ½ tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted, for filling)
  • 2 ounces cream cheese (softened)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened for frosting)
  • ¾ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • Pinch of salt (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a larger mixing bowl, whisk together the warm milk, granulated sugar, salt, vanilla extract, and egg. Stir in the yeast mixture.
  3. Gradually add flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes. Gradually add softened butter pieces while kneading.
  5. Transfer the dough to a greased bowl and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle, about ¼ inch thick.
  7. Spread melted butter over the rolled-out dough and sprinkle the sugar and cinnamon mixture evenly over it.
  8. Roll the dough tightly from the long side to form a log. Cut into 8 equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish.
  9. Cover the rolls with a towel and let them rise for about 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  10. Bake rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

Notes

Serve warm, topped with cream cheese frosting. Can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
