Ingredients
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (6 oz or 170 g)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick or 115 g)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar (150 g)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (5 ml)
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder (50 g)
- 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) salt
Instructions
- Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and butter.
- Microwave on high in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until melted and smooth.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar and eggs until well combined.
- Stir in the melted chocolate mixture and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Sift the cocoa powder and salt into the mixture, then fold until just combined.
- Lightly grease the waffle iron with non-stick spray or a little butter.
- Pour a portion of the batter onto the center of the preheated waffle iron.
- Close the lid and cook until the waffle is set and slightly crispy on the edges, about 3-5 minutes.
- Carefully remove the waffle and repeat with the remaining batter.
- Serve warm, optionally with your favorite toppings.
