Description

A flavorful and tender flat iron steak recipe that’s perfect for weeknight dinners or special gatherings. This dish highlights simple cooking techniques and the joy of sharing meals.

Ingredients

  • 1-2 pound flat iron steak
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2/3 cup olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 garlic clove (minced)
  • 1/2 cup scallions (chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for cooking)

Instructions

  1. Combine the marinade ingredients: soy sauce, lemon juice, olive oil, brown sugar, minced garlic, and chopped scallions.
  2. Add the flat iron steak to the marinade, ensuring it is well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for one hour or overnight for deeper flavors.
  3. Preheat a medium pan over medium heat, and add two tablespoons of olive oil.
  4. Remove the steak from the marinade, seasoning it with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  5. Cook the steak in the heated pan for 5-6 minutes on each side until the internal temperature reaches 135ºF.
  6. Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  7. Slice against the grain and serve.

Notes

Letting the steak marinate overnight enhances flavors. Experiment with different marinades for variety.
