Description
A traditional Filipino sticky rice cake that’s sweet, sticky, and wrapped in banana leaves, perfect for celebrations or as an everyday snack.
Ingredients
- 2 cups glutinous rice
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Banana leaves for wrapping
Instructions
- Rinse the glutinous rice until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Drain the rice and combine it with coconut milk, sugar, and salt in a bowl. Mix well until the sugar is dissolved.
- Cut banana leaves into rectangles for wrapping.
- Place a scoop of the rice mixture in the center of each banana leaf and fold it into a package, securing it with kitchen twine or toothpicks.
- Steam the wrapped rice cakes for about 30-45 minutes until cooked through.
- Let them cool before serving, and enjoy your Suman!
