Description

A comforting dish featuring tender chicken thighs glazed in a savory soy sauce and sweet honey mixture.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • 3 tbsp potato starch
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 3 tbsp neutral oil for pan frying
  • 8 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 stalks green onion, white and green parts separated
  • 1 tsp red chili flakes
  • 1/2 cup chicken stock
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • Green onion (green part for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Combine chicken stock, honey, rice vinegar, dark soy sauce, and cornstarch in a bowl to make the sauce and set aside.
  2. Pat chicken thighs dry with a paper towel.
  3. Mix potato starch, flour, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper on a large plate. Coat chicken thighs in the mixture.
  4. Heat neutral oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add chicken and fry until golden brown, about 7 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  5. Sauté minced garlic, white parts of green onion, and red chili flakes in the same pan until garlic is golden brown, about 3 minutes.
  6. Stir in the prepared sauce and cook for 1 minute until thickened.
  7. Return fried chicken thighs to the pan and cook for an additional 5 minutes until fully cooked and coated in sauce.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with green parts of green onion and sesame seeds.

Notes

For best results, marinate the chicken for at least 30 minutes before frying. Adjust honey for desired sweetness.
