Ingredients
- 1 (297 g) jar red pepper jelly
- 1 (255 g) jar mustard
- 2 lbs (907 g) beef smoked sausage or beef kielbasa
Instructions
- Set a 6-quart slow cooker to a low setting and combine the pepper jelly with the mustard in it.
- Mix the ingredients a few times until the jelly dissolves into the mustard.
- Slice the sausages into small pieces suitable for eating with a toothpick.
- Place the sausage pieces into the slow cooker, ensuring they are well-coated with the sauce.
- Allow the mixture to cook on low for three hours, giving it a stir now and then.
- To thicken the glaze, you can remove the lid from the slow cooker towards the end of the cooking time.
- The sausages can remain warm in the slow cooker for several hours if needed.
- Alternatively, you can prepare this in a Dutch oven by melting the jelly and mustard together over low heat, then adding the sausages and stirring them into the glaze.
- Cook with the lid partially open to let steam escape, for one hour, stirring occasionally.
Notes
- Try using spicy red pepper jelly for a kick in flavor.
- Experiment with Dijon or whole grain mustard for a different taste.
- For a thicker glaze, add a cornstarch slurry towards the end of cooking.
