A delightful start to your day with layers of fluffy pancakes, savory sausage, and melty cheese, all topped with a drizzle of maple syrup.
Ingredients
- 6 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1â…“ cups all-purpose flour
- 1½ teaspoons baking powder
- 2½ tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 pound ground breakfast sausage
- 8 slices cooked bacon (optional)
- 4 slices American or cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Divide the ground sausage into 4 equal parts and form them into round patties. Cook the sausage patties in a skillet over medium-high heat for about 3 minutes on each side until cooked through, then set aside.
- If using bacon, cook it in the same skillet until crispy, then set aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium-low heat. Pour in ÂĽ of the egg mixture and cook until set like an omelet, then fold and set aside. Repeat for the remaining mixture.
- In another bowl, combine the flour, milk, melted butter, eggs, baking powder, and salt to make a smooth pancake batter.
- Heat another skillet over medium heat and cook pancakes for about 2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- To assemble each sandwich, place a pancake on a plate, add a slice of cheese, a sausage patty, an omelet square, bacon (if using), and top with another pancake. Serve warm with syrup.
Notes
For a richer flavor, cook bacon alongside the sausage and drizzle extra maple syrup for sweetness.
