A classic dish that combines beauty with flavor, featuring bell peppers stuffed with seasoned ground meat, rice, and tomato sauce.
Ingredients
- 4 bell peppers
- 1 pound ground beef or ground turkey
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Shredded cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cut the tops off the bell peppers and remove the seeds.
- In a skillet, cook the ground beef or turkey over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add the cooked rice, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir until well combined.
- Stuff each pepper with the meat and rice mixture.
- Place the stuffed peppers upright in a baking dish.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25-30 minutes.
- If desired, remove foil, top with shredded cheese, and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until cheese is melted.
- Serve warm.
Notes
For easy cleanup, line your baking dish with parchment paper or foil. Stuffed peppers freeze well, so consider making extras for future meals.
