Transform a box cake mix into delightful, fluffy donuts that bring joy to any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 box cake mix (any flavor; yellow cake mix works well)
- 1 large egg
- 1/3 cup oil (light olive oil or any neutral-flavored oil)
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Sprinkles (optional)
- For the glazes:
- 3/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1-2 tablespoons milk
- 3/4 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder (for chocolate glaze)
- 2 tbsp maple syrup (for maple glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and spray the donut pans with non-stick spray.
- Combine the cake mix, egg, oil, milk, and vanilla extract in a large mixing bowl. Mix well until combined.
- Fill each donut cavity about 3/4 full with the batter using a piping bag or Ziploc bag.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the donuts to cool for 5-10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
- Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract for the glaze; mix in cocoa powder for chocolate glaze.
- Dip the top side of each cooled donut into the desired glaze and let the excess drip off before setting back on the wire rack.
Notes
Serve warm topped with glazes or sprinkles. Store in an airtight container for up to three days.
