Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups diced apples (about 2 medium apples)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar (for dusting)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon until combined.
  3. In another bowl, mix melted butter and granulated sugar until combined. Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well.
  4. Stir in sour cream to create a cohesive mixture.

  6. Fold in diced apples gently to maintain their shape within the batter.
  7. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and nutmeg until evenly distributed.
  8. In the greased loaf pan, add half of the batter, sprinkle half of the brown sugar mixture, then add the remaining batter and top with the rest of the brown sugar mixture.
  9. Bake for 55-65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  11. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For best results, use fresh, crisp apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp. Ensure melted butter cools slightly before adding eggs to avoid cooking them.
