Description

A tangy and slightly sweet dipping sauce that elevates the flavor of spring rolls with a delightful umami punch.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce, or more as needed
  • ½ tsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • ¼ tsp minced fresh ginger
  • ½ tsp white sugar
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp green onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, water, minced garlic, chopped green onions, sesame oil, sugar, and ginger until thoroughly mixed.
  2. Adjust the thickness by adding more hoisin sauce if necessary.
  3. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld.
  4. When ready to serve, transfer the mixture to a small saucepan and gently heat over medium-low for 2 to 4 minutes until warmed.

Notes

Feel free to experiment with proportions and additional ingredients like crushed red pepper for spice or fresh herbs for added freshness.
