A comforting and flavorful slow-cooked dish featuring tender venison cube steaks, perfect for family gatherings.
Ingredients
- 6 venison cube steaks (about 1.5 pounds)
- 1 yellow onion, diced
- 8 oz sliced mushrooms
- 1 ½ cups beef bone broth
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tsp herb and garlic seasoning
- ½ tsp paprika
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
Instructions
- Place the venison steaks, diced onion, and sliced mushrooms in the crock pot.
- Whisk together beef bone broth, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and seasonings. Pour this mixture over the steaks.
- Mix cornstarch with water and stir it into the mixture one hour before serving to thicken the sauce.
- Cook on HIGH for 3–4 hours or LOW for 6–8 hours until the venison is tender.
- Serve hot with mashed potatoes or noodles.
Notes
Searing the steaks before cooking can enhance the flavor. Consider marinating the venison overnight for additional flavor.
